Waste Me Not
“Waste Me Not” was a live installation that stretched over 30 days from earth hour to earth day in 2018. The installation was completed by Mariska Nell and Martia Peters, which represented two opposite people and the waste.
Mariska represented the average global citizen and created 2-3 kg of waste per day and adding it daily to her suit.
Marita represented a more environmentally conscious person that tried to use as little waste as possible and added her daily waste to her suit as well.
Over the course of the 30 days it became clear the differences between the two and at the end of the 30 days Mariska’s waste weighed 65kg and Marita’s only 4kg. This installation was a clear visual of how much waste the average person generated and if there was no away what our footprint would look like versus someone generating as little waste as possible.
